民進黨主席蔡英文在台北總統府宣誓就任

民進黨主席蔡英文在台北總統府宣誓就任正式成為台灣史上首位女總統，她之後發表約三十分鐘就職演說承諾為年輕人改變未來。蔡英文承諾要打造一個更好的國家新政府未來要做好幾件事：包括要讓台灣經濟結構轉型、強化地方安全網絡、防止隨機殺人的悲劇再次發生、推動台灣司法改革及維持區域的和平穩定等。
在兩岸關係的議題上蔡英文沒有提出「九二共識」，她指會依據憲法等條例處理兩岸事務，並在既有事實與政治基礎上持續推動兩岸和平發展。
